I met Joshua and Courtney a few months ago, and since their booking I've been super eager to work with them both. Although young they both have a fire in them that is both encouraging and refreshing to be around. For that reason, when they asked for me to make the five-hour drive to Cincinnati for their engagement session, I quickly jumped at the opportunity. Between the laughs, and the many onlookers who assumed Joshua was Usher, we were able to get some amazing shots. We later got a bite to eat where Josh & Courtney were able to meet my beautiful wife and well as my two rambunctious sons. I left Cincinnati with even more enthusiasm for their wedding day, as well as a newly established friendship.

Joshua & Courtney's Love Story: Courtney and I have had a very interesting journey leading up to our engagement. I think God knew he had a plan for me when I first met her because we had two first meetings. I was working at the University at the same time she moved into her residence hall during her freshman year. I was able to meet both of her parents and twin sister. After that encounter, I was well familiarized with her dreams and aspirations. I thought she was gorgeous, but I was not meant to see her again until the following year.

She had moved into an upper-classman dorm during her Sophomore year. At the time, I was working as a Resident Advisor. The Resident Advisors and I planned a first week of school event which she attended. We played sand volleyball together and I incidentally, purposefully by her account, kicked sand in her hair. Although I wouldn’t suggest this as a flirting technique for most men, it evidentially worked for me, as I was able to secure her phone number some weeks later.

Over a period of time, monthly conversations turned into bi-weekly check-ins, which evolved into weekly chats then daily debates. After six months, we were inseparable. An impromptu relationship became a friendship, love and shortly a commitment that is sure to transcend life itself. I guess it can be said that sometimes you do get a second chance at hello.
